Neighborhood Business CommitteeThe Business Committee is what got the Winton Place Development Council (WPDC) started. In order for Winton Place (now Spring Grove Village) to take advantage of the Neighborhood Development funds being made available through the city of Cincinnati, The Community Council needed a 501(c)3 Non-profit development group to submit a proposal. The WPDC was founded and a plan to reface and refurbish the buildings at the corner of Epworth and Edgewood was presented. This began our first Business-oriented development in 1981. Starting in 1998, the WPDC began an off street parking project that was completed in spring of 2001. This is typical work performed by the WPDC's Neighborhood Business District Committee, it was something that no other group in the community could achieve and it was of such enormous improvement to our community that it was recognized by Keep Cincinnati Beautiful, Inc. in its 2001 Community Awards ceremony as the most significant improvement in a community entrance/business district in the city of Cincinnati. We were presented with a plaque and a $500.00 check in recognition of our neighborhood involvement in keeping our portion of Cincinnati beautiful. We were pleased to transfer its ownership and upkeep to Harmony Lodge, Inc. in May of 2004 and they were happy to get it for a song! (forgive the pun.) They will continue to honor the covenant allowing free public use of the lot.
